Abstract

Deep Eutectic Solvents (DES) are made by mixing two or more solid compounds that, when combined, turn into a liquid at room temperature because their melting point becomes lower than that of the individual components. These solvents are especially interesting since they are cheaper, eco-friendly, biodegradable, and less toxic than many traditional substances. On top of that, they can be used in areas like electrochemistry, catalysis, extraction, synthesis, and biotechnology. With all these advantages, they are emerging as solvents that truly work in favor of humanity.
