Resumen
Los microplásticos, fragmentos plásticos menores que 5 milímetros, son ya un contaminante omnipresente: están en el aire que respiramos y en el mar que nos rodea. El estudio en los puertos de Veracruz y Manzanillo confirma su presencia en ambas matrices, identificando nueve tipos de polímeros, con predominio de poliéster, polietileno y acrílico. Se comprobó además que las brisas marinas transportan los microplásticos del océano a la atmósfera, favoreciendo su dispersión a gran escala. Estos hallazgos ofrecen evidencia de la dinámica de microplásticos en costas mexicanas y subrayan la urgencia de implementar estrategias para reducir su propagación e impacto ambiental.
