Abstract
One of the branches of research in materials focuses on the development of optical glasses that aims to improve amplifying devices, lasers, and sensors present in the activities of daily life such as communication systems. When these glasses are modified with some elements of the periodic table, called rare earths, the efficiency in the emission of luminous energy notably improves. This technology is essential for advances in telecommunications such as the case of the internet by optical fiber.
